You knew that a new head coach at Rutgers was also likely to be followed by new uniforms and a new look for the football program.
On Tuesday night Rutgers’ head coach Chris Ash unveiled the teams new look for the 2016 season, dubbed ‘Dark Knight.’

From the video, it appears that Rutgers is going to follow the trend of all-black uniforms and while black has been a secondary color for the Scarlet Knights for some time this look is a bit different.
There’s more gloss to the uniform in the shoulder area and the helmets are flat black with the Scarlet Knight head logo in glossy black. Also different is a white block ‘R’ logo on the front of the uniform and not the word “Rutgers” as is customary these days.
Fans will get the first look at the whole uniform at Fan Appreciation Day this Sunday, and we are still awaiting word as to when the uniform will make an appearance. Early bets have to be on the primetime affair with Michigan on Oct. 8.
Blackout games aren’t unchartered territory for the Scarlet Knights, who have gone 4-3 in games where they have worn black from head to toe before. Last season the all-black look nearly was magical against Michigan State, where the Spartans had to use everything in their arsenal to beat Rutgers 31-24.
